Your coach, 1:1s and progress reviews

Your coach meets you one to one every month. Every 12 weeks, you, your coach and your line manager hold a progress review (officially called a tripartite review). Both are on Teams and recorded in Aptem, our programme management system.

Your coach

Your coach comes from industry and is responsible for you from your pre-start meeting to your end-point assessment (the final assessment). They run your weekly live session, mark your monthly projects, accept the learning hours you log (your off-the-job hours), and hold your 1:1s and progress reviews. They are also your first contact if you are worried about your safety or someone else's.

Kick-off

Before your start date, your group meets for the kick-off. It covers how the programme works, off-the-job hours, sessions, projects, the end-point assessment and staying safe. Please attend live. Watching the recording instead is only by exception, agreed with our Quality team, and you will need to confirm you watched it.

Monthly 1:1

  • Held early each calendar month on Teams and recorded; the transcript and a summary go on a review form in Aptem.
  • There is no 1:1 in your first month, or in the month you return from a break in learning.
  • In a month with a progress review, the 1:1 is optional.

Progress review, every 12 weeks

You, your line manager and your coach meet to:

  • look back at your progress, your off-the-job hours, staying safe and British values, and your skills radar
  • set targets for the next 12 weeks, with a dated plan to catch up if you are behind.

Beforehand, you and your manager each fill in your sections in Aptem; afterwards, all three of you sign it there. Your manager needs to be there; if they are on leave, agree a new date with your coach. If a review is late, the next one is brought forward.

Booking or moving a meeting

Your coach books your 1:1s and progress reviews in Aptem. To move one, tell your coach early, with some times that suit you (and your manager, for a progress review).

Invitations, Teams and recordings

The onboarding team sends kick-off invitations and sets up your Teams and academy access. If an invitation won't accept, you can't open recordings or a session link is missing, reply to the email they sent you, or email info@io-sphere.io.
